Rousssey, most Triacs would have an operating range for their voltage. i would go on the RS online catalouge and pick one up there, with a range that includes 127V

Make sure that it IS a Triac and not a Diac or something similar! (Sorry if that's a bit of egg sucking)

regards

Tony

It's good enough, but and about the current?

Well as a very basic calculation, if something consumes 15W at 127V

I=P/V = 15 / 127 = 0.11A or 110mA.

Of course the triac is not using this power, the circuit / component that the triac is supplying is using the power, the triac is HANDLING the power.

What i am saying is if the circuit runs at 15W, drawing 110mA, then the triac must be able to handle AT LEAST 110mA. Using a larger triac would not mean you are using more power (or current)

A small amount is used to power the triac as an active component, but this is neglible.

And before any electronics buffs start jumping up and down, I did say these are VERY basic calculations, I know the triac is switching on and off etc etc!!!
