UK stairlift

Can anyone advise me with this question ? We have a stair lift and was wondering if the batteries that we replace after a year or so can be charged up by a battery charger out side the stair lift it self, like a car battery.

Most stair lifts operate on 24v, 2 x 12v lead acid batteries connected in series.
So, yes, they could be charged with a 12v car battery charger.
But, the question would be, why would you need to? The stairlift should be capable of maintaining the charge in the batteries. I would expect the batteries to last longer t

you can't use a car battery charger on these batteries. it will fry them as the output is rough. they need a constant regulated 13.6V per 12V battery. the stairlift itself should charge them automatically as Timbo says.

Thanks for your reply, your right the starlit does charge up the batteries, but we have had the stair lift now for about 11 years, after about a year or so the lift stops going to park and stop at the bottom. replace the batteries cost this year £56 for two 12v but what else can I do ? My wife cant do stairs. If there is any help you can give me its much appreciated. Kind Regards Michael

Thanks for the reply, after about a year the lift stops at the bottom and will not go to park. Only after I change the batteries the lift will go to park. This year it cost me £56 for two 12v batteries. The lift is 11 years old can not afford to replace it so need batteries. If you can give me some advice it would be appreciated.
