Got a call to go and look at a fault, no power to the swimming pool, got there had a look and there is a kmf in a metal sarel box along with other items! Somehow the pool has blown an 80a fuse and melted the carrier , any ideas , it is supplied from an old Wylex metal clad rewireable's with push in mcb's (32a) why hasn't this blown first, it is a tt system with a 100ma time lag protecting it all advised an eicr as they have 3 boards ( about 20 ish circuits) with no idea of what does what!!!

The pool has a heater and a pump! Thinking its the pump myself as t occaisionally took out one of the 32a!!

You have a direct short Line to Neutral somewhere (since the RCD did not trip), I think you are looking at continuity testing not IR testing with that sort of fault.
Heaters are definitely prone to failure but normally to earth, so worth disconnecting each one and testing them individually.

Did initially think heater but seeing as it tripped out on more than one occasion ( randomly , it has put me off the scent of the heater Nd on to the pump, just hope I dont end up down the garden path!!!!
