Telescopic steps that fit in a boot ?

Can anyone recommend a set of telescopic step ladders.. I recently started using my car for work (coming from a transit). I have roof bars etc but it become cumbersome taking steps of the roof 3 - 4 times a day...

The car is an insignia and ideally would like something that will fit in the boot with the seats up and can be used as both steps and a small ladder... preferably something telescopic rather than the finger crushing folder uppers... but most important something half decent... (Saw a painter split a set of cheap steps along with his head when he came of them,.. so looking something safe)

Any recomendations ?

Some people swear by the telescopic type and others say they just get the sliding bits dusty and they then stick, unfortunately I cannot recommend as I have not used them, but I was never very impressed except for the fact they fit in a boot.

I've been on the same set of 3.5m telescopics for around 3 years now, and so long as you give them some tlc and a clean & lube once in a while they're brilliant. But they weren't a cheap set.

I have a set but only use them when I need them. Rather be on a sturdy ladder!

Try Maplin for some good deals, telescopic ladders are mint for getting into lofts without tearing wallpaper and knocking plates off the walls on the way up the stairs.

Second that, they cheap off their telescopic ladders very cheap every so often, keep an eye out for it. No doubt there are better ones out there but if you don't mind very cheap and cheerful... Think mine were about £40 from there reduced, can't remember how high they go, they do a few different heights.
