Well the end is nigh, and thankfully I have cut my last 3 back boxes ever into engineering bricks today. Tomorrow is a nice steady day helping mate fit a shop out, Thursday off, then Friday Morning finish off what I started today,Friday afternoon golf, then its all over. Its a bit of an ordeal carting most of the contents of what was in my van into the back of a Mondeo Hatchback even with the seats down. I will be honest i will miss the freedom, the crack onsite, and i will miss most giving piumbers and plasterers a good crack with the Insulation resistance tester.

I wont miss, brick dust, rock wool, roof spaces, crawling under floors, chasing money, working in the cold, being up till all hours doing paperwork, paying £500 a year to Elecsa, and cigarettes.

Weekend on the beer, then off to work i go........That sounds really strange, not had to go to work for ages, just roll out of bed and I am there.

Cheers............Howard

Nobody told me that i had to anything as strenuous as pushing a pen! i was told that the hardest thing i would have to do was hold a pen. Will i really have to do so much? I am worried now:oops:

You'll be bored after 3 weeks and you will be doing jobs on the side at weekends :). All the best Howard, I'm sure you will be a great teacher.

yeah sure he can lol

Am2 what does that involve I know its something to do with testing but do you have to create a rig then test it??

I think its the equivalent of a level 2-3 practical for young adults that are unable to complete a nvq3 due to their own experience.

cheers mate heard it mentioned a few times just hoping thats not another cost i need to undertake

I think that we need more experienced lecturers in our industry. Howard sounds like just the bloke. In my opinion there's a massive difference between droning on and actually being enthusiastic, and inspiring the next generation of electricians. Good luck mate, and give it your best.

At that 'learning center' (and I use that term very loosely) that you attended for your 2391, I saw some lads doing their AM2. I was shocked at the level of their competence. Not a single clipped cable was straight or sockets, t+e cable twisted and then clipped, holes big enough to put your fingers in on the c/u, loads and loads of things that would never pass a DIYers level and these lads are working for housing association companies! Just like others have said already, thank god you are teaching this and these lads can become a better tradesmen.
