Tools for a beginner

I am going to start building up my tool collection. I was thinking of screwdrivers and pliers to start off with. Any recommendations please? Or even what would you recommend?

Both are good value imo and perfect for a 1st time set of tools. As your earning then you can start building up/replacing with the likes of knipex.

I use CK drivers, pliers and cutters from Knipex, Stanley for things like hammers, pipe grips, a knife or two, some JCB chisels (wood and bolster), Bosch, Dewalt and Armeg drills and an Armeg torque driver.

You need a cordless hammer drill and bits. A cone or stepping drill bit is very useful. Plugs and screws, earth sleeving. Electricians knife (if you know how to use it!) Bolster and chisel. On screwdrivers 3 and 4mm flat heads and around 3 pozis' Recommend Knipex combination pliers/cutter/stripper all in one. Lever for floorboards. Multi saw again for floorboards. Then a bag to tote it all in. An open one is easiest for access and packing away.

I would go with a pack of the Wiha slimfix drivers. Get around six drivers for £25. They are the most hard wearing I have found.

I saw in the college my apprentice attends had CK tool kits heavily discounted compared to my suppliers that stock CK/Avit.

It was a direct promotion from CK according to the college tutor. Might be worthwhile checking into that.

They were on official CK posters and A4 flyers.

You could get the tools in this set far cheaper, and it's a very attractive set, ideal for tool tarts like me, but also for the scumbag tool thief's, but if you are set on having the set, well that will be your choice, not mine at this stage in your career imo.
