I've got the Makita one with the dust extraction unit. It's very good and it's been borrowed more often than i've used it.

Had it a while now but i do remember feeling a bit queezy when i ordered it so i think it might of been a tad expensive!

Haven't got one but could have done with one on a number of occasions!

Have thought about hiring one but I don't know what the kind of costs would be?

Could be an option?

been using the makita for about 6 months. Copes well even on really hard walls. The debris sometimes jams the blades so i have to keep giving the head a good shake from time to time. Dont expect your area to be dust free as the hoover is not the most powerful. Just my opinion others may disagree

Work well on old blue brick??

I use a "sparky" from screwfix attached to an erbauer vacuum with power out so the vacuum switches on and off with the chaser. It's the only one I've used so cant compare it with any others but used in conjuntion with an armeg chasing chisel chasing is a lot!! easier than hammer and chisel

I hear the one from Aldi is good (don't feckin laugh) it's only £30 too! Keep an eye on your local Aldi.

Nothing like a bit of 'chav shoppin'!

me too using makita also tryed metabo.basicly cheap twin diamond cutters r good as long as they have plenty of power 750w or more.as for blue brick not vey fast but lots faster than anything else ive tryed.....or heard of....hoover for dust extract is a must..

Doing an MOD refurb job at the mo, and being the runt of the firm it's fallen on me to do all the chasing - started off with an Erbauer I think or a Sparky maybe, but it weren't much cop to be honest.

Then the boys brought out the Hilti and it just chews it up, glides through concrete like anything.

Weighs a bloody ton though, I'm gonna have Popeye arms pretty soon.

Also, costs a small fortune, but you pays yer money . . .

Mine was a cheapy from screwfix, something like £99. Its not very powerful so it takes a while to get down the wall. Having said that it leaves a nice neat chase and is a lot quicker than doing it by hand. Would I spend £600 on one, probably not.

I have a sparky not used it on any electrical jobs yet, got it for sinking pipes in bathrooms, not a bad bit of kit though probably gets out once or twice a year but having said that it's a must have gadjet.
