Hi everyone,

Doing a job at the moment where 3 cables of 10mm twin and earth are going from a 3 phase board through a pub, outside to an out house and they need to be replaced with XLPE/SWA cable because of corrosion.

What size SWA cable is the equivalent to 10mm twin and earth? is it just 10mm SWA?

Thanks

The first question is what load is in the outhouse? I would then design the right cable for it rather than rely on whats there now, many things may have been added since that was first installed.

The CSA of a cable be it SWA,T+E, Hi-tuf etc will all be the same size, so a 10mm in one is a 10mm in another.

Obviously because certain cables are manufactured for certain installations and conditions the current carrying capacity will alter. For instance your SWA at 70c will not have the same current carrying capacity as a XPLE SWA 90c and an SWA has more capacity than a T+E, is this what you mean
