Very helpful mate, thanks. At the end of the day I'm fitting fire rated downlights which I think is sensible and gives me peace of mind. Fitted LAP before and never had a problem. I acknowledge there's better brands available but it is what it is.

The job is tomorrow and the client has got the LAP downlights now, so will go with them. Will keep those JCC ones in mind, look impressive. Thanks

To be honest, I just assumed they would for safety purposes due to insulation in ceiling and to stop the spread of a fire should it occur. It would of been my inclination to purchase fire rated downlights if I'd designed the job. If its not a requirement then the original downlights they...

    Conservatory lighting

Hi, got a job to connect up some new spotlights in a conservatory. Roof has been replaced and plaster boarded. I'm assuming insulation has also be installed. Originally the client purchased Enlite Spryte non-fire rated IP44 LED downlights, however I thought that they should be fire rated as...

    Coding advice on EICR please

Yes it is in good condition, I just wondered whether it would been tested to the same fire rating standards as a newer metal clad board, and that by indicating C3 it would be evident that it is an older board and would not be something we would install now. I will most likely not code it unless...

    Coding advice on EICR please

Not sure of exact age of board, but the property in question is my old flat, so I know its at least 8 years old!

    Coding advice on EICR please

Looking for some advice as im fairly new to EICR reporting, although have passed 2394/95 and have carried out a couple of straight forward reports. Firstly, on a EICR I have carried out for a family member I have found an old MEM memera 2000 metal clad consumer unit, over 8 years old. I was...

Isolator required when replacing extract fan feed??

That's what I was hoping to hear! Basically I need to replace the light in the bathroom with an IP fitting as the property is being let out. In the course of starting to replace the light I found the problem. I'm not altering the installation as such, just repairing the faulty cable.

Isolator required when replacing extract fan feed??

Yeah obviously the wiring needs replacing. Will fit a 3 pole isolator to be safe.

Isolator required when replacing extract fan feed??

I would have to get the details of the fan and have a look online.
