    Very helpful mate, thanks. At the end of the day I'm fitting fire rated downlights which I think is sensible and gives me peace of mind. Fitted LAP before and never had a problem. I acknowledge there's better brands available but it is what it is.

    That's what I was hoping to hear! Basically I need to replace the light in the bathroom with an IP fitting as the property is being let out. In the course of starting to replace the light I found the problem. I'm not altering the installation as such, just repairing the faulty cable.
