    Solar installations roof work

Possibly a silly question, I would like to do solar but I really don't like being on roofs, and don't fancy cutting roof tiles and all that stuff. Is it possible to have someone else install the panels under supervision and then do the electrical connecting and setup myself? Thanks, Chris.

    Yet another van break in!

Not posted for a while. Van broken into, last time was a few years ago, and since then always taken my tools out at night. They got in (Transit Connect) pushed it back from against the wall into the middle of the road, pulled the strong box out the side door and made off with it. The box was...

Yes, probably have to use the local suppliers sometimes.

    Internet suppliers

I am thinking of giving up my local suppliers, and getting most of my materials form internet suppliers. They appear to have much better prices. I find that with local suppliers the cost somehow keeps mounting up and there is a great big nasty bill at the end of the month. Anyone else use...

    Anyone got Wiha Torque screwdriver

The problem I have is the torque seems to vary. One time it clicks with not too much effort, the next got to use a lot more force to get it to click. Took it back but out of warranty so bought another and its the same, just returned it. Its the well known Wiha, not sure if I got a faulty batch...

Do I need to rewire after this EICR

Well, I'll have my say. Wiring regs are not retrospective regarding EICRs, ref Part P document, even on RCDs depending on when the original installation was done. " no RCD on lighting circuit C2" I don't think so. Low insulation readings, I would say further investigation needed, could be a...

    Electrician gloves.

I never used to wear gloves but in the last few years I wear them most of the time. I just use Screwfix Site general purpose, I can do most things wearing them now, seem to adapt after a while.. I think it was getting a nasty cut just opening a cardboard box that made me decide.
