Uncommon SWA cable with different coloured cores

I was the 2nd sparks taking over a garden office supply job. The first sparks had fitted 10 sq mm 3 core SWA, but it actually had brown, blue and g/y conductors. The middle was also more like hi tuff in the sense the insulation surrounding the 3 cores resembled a cable in its own right not just...

If i've got a light with one cable, and its switch has one cable, how is it wired?

A switch i saw today has a T+E in the switch and only a single T+E in the light fitting. I'm presuming this means it's junction boxed somewhere? Could someone point me in the direction of a potential diagram for such a set up?
