Hi folks,
In your opinion, do you think there would ever be a situation where an RCD (presuming it worked) would not pick up a problem that a megger test would? i.e an RCD would trip if there was ever a L-E, N-E or L-N fault
Not sure if anyone has further information on this but I'm getting nowhere with MK tech department.
I did a CU change recently & fully populated it with MK Sentry RCBOs - all tested ok. I've returned a short while later to complete some works & while testing found all 3 of the B6 RCBO's were...

ok really strange had a customer today who I did a mains change for last week. Everything can be fine and then after a few hours left hand side of board trips. this covers lighting (with no earth!!) and 1 ring main. ring con ok. My initial thoughts was the fridge so plugged this in to other ring...
Doing a test the other day and found a couple of metal light switches no earth to faceplate just to back box but both lugs were fixed.
What code do you reckon I'm saying 3 but it's a 2 minute job anyway to rectify. Can't recall seeing it before though
Cheers
Intermittent faults are the spawn of the devil. Their mission on earth is to torment electricians and confuse apprentices.

SRP manufactured Sunnyroo inverters a few years back, they were sold as "made in Australia" they were infact made in China by a company that went out of business a couple of years back.
I ended up with a failed unit which I had to replace out of my own pocket because the warranty is now...
Purely for training purposes only, using an isolating tx, could you effectively recreate the three earthing systems sufficiently to be able to trick a Martindale into giving false display for N/E faults?
I was carrying out an EICR on a newly renovated property this week and discovered a few faults. However the guys that done the job are disputing the faults and saying that the work is ok. Basically need regs / reference numbers to support my claims.
First one was BS951 clamps being used as main...
So since the advent of rcds, these have become more highlighted.
This has been bugging me lately. In my mind the reason why neutral to earth faults are a problem is because the cpc has a smaller csa than the neutral
Also if you lost the neutral at the supply then mains voltage would be...
Alright, I recently sat my FICA and failed section E (Fault Diagnosis) and I have my resit next Monday but my problem is I've never actually done fault finding before. I've read about it and looked over some basic notes but my first real attempt at it was on the day of my test! I know that...
Hi, Got a Glow-worm 18hxi boiler (6yrs old) with an intermittent fault.
Cuts out with F1 or F4 code message. Sometimes runs for several days with no problem, then cuts out once or twice same day. Regularly serviced by our local plumber (also fitted it) but he cannot find the problem. Had the...

I've recently had a phone call off a potential client, asking for there recently refurbished house to be electrically signed off as they have sold the house.
I think what's happened is they have had a electrician in to rewire it and modify the circuits but they wasn't part P.
I am wondering if...
