Earth fault loop high - DNO say problem is next door?

I fitted a new circuit, upon testing, the EFLI was 1.29 ohms on a TN-S system.I rang up the DNO for advice, and was told that is an emergency, we'll be there within 2 hours. There was no point me hanging around, so I went to my next job. I caught up with the houseowner today, and asked what...

Got called out yesterday to a blown BS88 fuse on a ring circuit. The customer reported a big bang when plugging something into a socket. The result was the cheap socket was faulty. Anyhow whilst I was there (I did not really like the quality of the install) so I did a full test on the ring...

    r1 and r2 loop test??

While doing the r1 and r2 loop test on a ring main they always say at least the r2 too be a larger reading than the r1, because of the cable size difference?. why is the earth reading higher, I thought the bigger the area of the core, it would have more resistance than that off of 1.5mm earth???

Light switch two gang, standard and loop through

Is the any reason why you shouldnt fit a two gang switch, one wired as standard (switched live with 2T&E), and the second switch looped with the L-N passing through the switch (neutral in a wago). This second circuit is to power 5a sockets. Would it be preferable to take a permanent live into...
