    Just reading through my Student's Guide and wondering about nominal amperage. If guaranteed trip is 5x nominal amperage, what's to stop 2.5mm cable on a 20a radial circuit from running at 70a or something and completely destroying the cable/potentially your house?

    Lighting circuit trips RCD but not MCB, can’t find E-N fault

    Long shot but thought I’d try, have a lighting circuit that trips the RCD as soon as the neutral touches the neutral bar for said RCD. Bypass that and it works fine just on an MCB so would think earth-neutral fault, but doing an IR test between N and E shows as a pass (>99M ohm). So unsure of...

    I have a 40amp RCD downstream of a 50a MCB (10mm csa cable) should the MCB be lowered to protect the RCD from overload? If so why does this not apply to RCD devices in Split Load boards
