Hi All,

I'm looking at installing an induction hob in my kitchen (upgrade from gas) and I gather that it can be added to the cooker circuit if there's enough capacity.

In the fuse box and at the cooker end, the cooker circuit is wired in with 6sqmm cable, but only has a 16A MCB which I gather is much smaller than normal for a cooker circuit?

Obviously I can't run an oven and a hob off a 16A circuit, though if the whole run is 6sqmm cable it seemingly would have enough capacity. I can't see why it would've been installed with partly 6sqmm cable and partly a smaller size.

Is there any way to verify that the whole run is actually 6sqmm cable, and increase the size of the MCB to 32A? Does anyone know why a cooker circuit would have a 16A MCB on it in the first place?

It is likely to be the same cable from start to end.
HOWEVER, this needs to be verified before increasing the size of the protective device.
