    1/.please can anyone clarify whether it is now mandatory to install surge protection devices in domestic installations for new installations and or rewires. 2/.Also is it correct that if a lightening protection system is in place you need both type 1 and type 2 surge protection ?

    Surge protected extension leads trip rcds

    Spent hours today tracing a NE fault (IR=0.29Mohms) on ring main. Unplugged everything I could and then split the ring down. Eventually narrowed it down to three double sockets which seem to be on a spur. Different colours at start and end of spur so no doubt a jb under the floor somewhere...
