Hi
I know very little about electronics, it's never been my vocation. I know basics and that's it but I'm a bit baffled by something that happened the other day. If I sound like I'm waffling at any point then I apoligize in advance.
I went to boot up my PC. Nothing happened, which I found...
Hi,
I am using an ifm sensor to detect a product coming down the line in our factory. I have connected this sensor in such a way as to energise a 24VDC Relay. No PLC involved here. It does the job perfectly and I am happy with it.
Anyhow, I was just wondering if I should be using a surge...
Well we have all heard about the proposed additions to the 17th edition 1st ammendment, one of which being "Surge Protection" is this a proper theft, or a series of events that will get the greater public to buy into protection BBC News Story.................

Hi,
I need to do performance testing on an electrical appliance. Part of this requires me to check appliance behaviour during power surges and very short power drops.
Is there a tool out their I can plug my appliance into which will simulate the above power faults?
Thanks,
Steve Hewison
Not come across this before but a customer of mine who lives out in the sticks was recently the victim of a major power surge caused by a fire within the local sub-station. On top of all his electronic accessories being fried which he can and is claiming for he basically wants to be protected...

In the regs it says surge protectors must not be higher that category II for overvoltage, anyone know why?
I've seen a device being sold which can cope with 40kA overcurrent, but some fuses are rated at 16kA so I wondered if the surge protector is any good.
Its not required in the UK as we...
I have been looking for a 10 way surge protected extension with at least 3m cable but all the 10 way ones I see available online are 2m.
You seem to be able to get 8 way or less with 3m or more but not 10.
Is there a reason for this in terms of safety / load etc.?
Is it safe at all to plug a...

Hi,
I have a combi boiler fitted in a local community hall that blew a circuit board due to a power surge last year. This was rectified at the time by the fitting of a new circuit board. The boiler is connected to the electrical supply by means of a switched fused spur.
Does anyone know if...
