hello, at our plant we have an 11kv transformer which supplys 250v single phase 433v three phase.we recently had some problems with a german machine which had some sensitive electronics that kept blowing.after a word with the transformer inspector he informed us there is another tapping that would bring down the voltage by 2.5% bringing it to about 244v per phase(nearer the eu voltages) and also reducing current which is about 600a per phase at the moment thus reducing power consumption.is there any pitfalls that anyone is aware of doing this.has anyone else done it?
cheers

Unless you have been HV trained you would need to get someone in to do it as some transfomers you can switch it with the power on ans some you need to isolate the transformer before you switch it.

yes it needs power shutting off first then switching over but are there any draw backs to doing this.if not why hasnt it been done before now and is everybody "at it"?
