Still on a learning curve and need a bit of advice.

I had a chip fryer fail today passed the earth but then failed insulation on 500v setting class 1.
It’s only 2 weeks old. Fryer next to it passed fine. Then a pizza oven had the same problem!!

Any advice appreciated... well most of it ?

How much of a fail? I.e. what sort of IR result did it find?

It is not uncommon for heater elements in ovens to be troublesome for tripping RCD due to leakage if unused for a while and moisture absorbed, but they usually clear if run up to temperature (which can be problematic if the RCD keeps tripping...)

As above, sheathed heating elements can absorb moisture with disuse although new appliances are usually OK. When warmed up, the IR value tends to fall rapidly, then slowly rise back to and beyond the initial reading. Need specs and readings to comment further.
