I have the above chair lift. It only moves a few inches before cutting out. Then must be hand wound back to charging port. Once there it's only a minute or so till the lift shows full charged. I have switched off the mains the charging port. It's only a matter of minutes till alarm stop's and the display goes out. Are the batteries needing replaced? Please help.

I suppose the key question is how old is the battery?

That's a reasonable life. If they have been left standing discharged for any length of time during that period then I would expect them to be life expired. Lead acids can last 10 years but conditions have to be ideal. Had the batteries been newish and never left discharged, then there would be more of a possibility of a charger fault or high-resistance connection in the battery wiring.

Thank you most helpful.

Thank you I have two curves. I will switch batteries and see what happens. To be on the safe side I will only put the suspect batteries in the other curve over night and see what happens.

Bearing in mind the importance of the equipment, I would recommend changing the batteries for new (and branded) ones if there is any doubt. It's not a huge expense every 5 years.
