Existing circuit diagram attached. I opened all detectors to establish how they were supplied. Dedicated circuit off board and appears to be a radial circuit.

Question is. Can I simply take a 3 core and earth cable off the downstairs hall detector into the living room to a new smoke detector (firex Kidde kf20)?

Yes. Just match the colours of the 3 core… brown to brown, black to black, grey to grey.

Check how the trailing socket to the detector has been wired. Most use grey as neutral and black as the interconnection, some vice versa.

That'll be 3 wires going into the block. Do you think this will be ok?

I'm assuming the earth (sleeved) all connect together too.

I won't need a return cable? Single 1.5mm2 cable is fine ie. Radial.

Sorry. I'm not an electrian. Just a DIYer.

yes, it will be fine. Its a radial circuit with branches off it. Theres room in the mounting box for the joint.

Im just wary of you getting the black and grey mixed up, as, if you get it wrong, all your detectors could end up fried.
