Discuss Amendment 2 is out today in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

But not available to read anywhere until tomorrow? I think I'll just wait for Buzz to explain it to us.

All most of us want to know is after lots of speculation, what does regulation 421.1.7 actually say about AFDDs.
And then we probably have 6 months to sell as many sensibly priced consumer unit upgrades as possible before things get truly silly...!

Not listing on BSi online shop yet

Publish date is 28th March so the guessing and speculation goes on. Be interested to see what this whole new chapter 8 is about.

I personally don't think AFDD devices will be mandated yet. Feel free to give me some stick if I'm wrong though 😀😀

All it say there on AFDD is: a new requirement for Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDDs) in some AC final circuits for installations in some types of higher risk residential buildings;
whatever that means?

It can't just say that surely. There must be more?

on the IET website is states:Members of the committee responsible for the technical content of BS 7671, JPEL/64, are not permitted to release any further information before the publication date.

so is the addition of AFDD's on all circuits up to 32a, for all installation or just higher risk installations such as high rise flats?? got a few consumer unit changes coming up in April and I dont think that the valid excuse of "regs change" is going to make up for the £500+ change in price
