Had another one of these shocking installs today.
story as I'm told was; she has bought the shower out of a friends catalogue on the never never, (still paying for it)
then a "friend" agreed to fit it for her for £40
this is what greeted me today

Dont know how clear the photos are, but the t&e is sticking out the rh side of the shower, the cable both inside and outside the shower has melted, and even some of the case has started to melt
also, the water has been supplied in what appears to be hosepipe, connected with a jubilee clip.
he has then covered the cables at the side in brown stuff (looks very much like rock hard treacle), and told the wife to stick a tile on top.
at least the lady had the sense to turn it off at the breaker.
why do people pay for such bad workmanship,

We need to get these people prosecuted, but it will never happen :(
I have been to worse but never did take photos (no smart phones etc)
Hope the installer does not do it for a living lol

Will the "friend" pay up for a new shower unit and proper installation for the damage he caused, I doubt it. I'm guessing not a friend anymore.

Reminds me of my neighbour who bought an electric shower from Wilkinsons and had a go at installing it himself. Thankfully he gave up and asked me to do it. When I looked at what he'd done, I saw he'd spurred off the upstairs ring main in 2.5mm straight into the shower! :)
