Hi everyone. Joined a couple of weeks ago and have enjoyed reading advice/stories from everyone. Passed my trade test in june and got a job pretty easily. Its price work but I didn't need lots of money at the time, was just happy getting experience and learning my trade. Anyway, there's been a few weeks I've been asked to snag work at the end of jobs and been told I'd be on hours but this week I done a full week snagging and got £197 after tax. They also run a retention scheme which takes £20 a week off you to cover bad workmanship. Anyone else dealt with this kind of thing? I know there's sparks without jobs but I'm sick of being messed about cause I'm inexperienced! Any advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers, Gary.

How old are you? How many hours did you do? Whats your hourly rate? It looks very low!

I'm 22. Done 36 hours. Well my company is an NICEIC contratctor so I'm guessing there in with the SJIB so my rate would be £13.27. I think they're just chancing their luck tbh.

If you're doing 36 hours at £13.27 per hour your gross wage would be about £477 before tax so your rate must be about £8 per hour. Best check your payslip.

That said you need others of your age to give their views on your pay.

Yeah I done some calculating this morning and that's what I came up with. I'll see what they've written on my time sheet this week. Cheers for replying Murdoch.

gdoc start looking for another job there taking the p enroll with as mant agencies as poss and send your cv to them and pester them with phone calls youll pick something up good luck

Have you queried it with them. It seems like they have made a mistake. Whether purposely or not remains to be seen.

Thats about £50 a day and IMO is taking the pi**, they will be charging you out at a much higher rate than that.

They will carry on unless you say something though GDoc so man up fella.

Also IMO snags should be rectified by the opperative who did the install unless you are going to get THEIR £20 retainers.

Hi everyone. Got my time sheet through and they have paid me £6.08 an hour. Absolute joke. Not even minimum wage. Going in today to raise hell. Probably be subscribing to an unemployed electrical forum by the end of the day! Ezzzekiel I'm an electrician, passed my FICA test, not approved or anything just bog standard spark.

6.08 an hour! You need another job mate, numbskull labourers are on 7-10 per hour at my company! As a spark were on 12.16, and when I joined at 20 in 2008 as an improver because I hadn't got my Certs through the post I was on 10.50ish!

Can't remember off hand what the Electricians rate is right now, it did depend on whether you drove to site or had transport at one time, however in saying that it must be between £10-and £11 I would think, approved is around £13, I recommend you look for work elsewhere and I'm sure you will get a decent boss eventually, sorry to hear about the bad news about you being screwed fella, chin up.
