I followed the link printed on the box, and it’s coming up with a few ASA complaints.

Customer says he can’t read the lcd screen (you can, at an angle from above) but I’m wondering if it’s not worth repairing.

Back when I was 18 I had a job fitting similar gas saving devices.
I lasted a week before it dawned on me that the whole thing was based on flawed maths and rubbish science.
a con through and through in my opinion.

As far as I can tell, the Magic Heating Box (as opposed to the Magic Thermodynamic Box which is a kind of ASHP) was just a hollow vessel like a Dunsley header with various pipe connections on it, allied with a controller for the dual-pump configuration. There can be valid reasons to run a heating system via a multiple-circulation header, so that the boiler flow and return temperatures can differ from system flow and return. But it seems this box and its associated controls were mis-sold as miracle energy-savers for systems where they simply weren't needed and couldn't do any good, or possibly even reduced the performance of an existing system.

I can't tell what's inside the controller. The patent for the system EP1264146 which is now lapsed, mentions the option of VFD control of pumps. But it also talks a load of cobblers about other things, so it doesn't offer any real insight. If it gets removed I would be interested to see whether it is just a glorified timeswitch or setback thermostat.
