Hi all. I'm currently applying for an apprenticeship in the UK.

I want to get a headstart and would like to know the essential books i need to have. I'm particularly interested in if there is any resource that outlines 'best practice' on site for how things are generally done - ie what the standard procedure for gauging, measuring and cutting cables is, what the standard way to run trunking or clipping cables up to joists would be etc.

Many thanks and apologies if in the wrong place.

I would say the On-site Guide BS7671:2018 is crucial reading for anyone looking to get into the electrical industry. There maybe other useful books that others can recommend but I started with this and Electrical Installation Work by Brian Scaddon. At college we were given Basic Electrical Installation Work level 2 by Trevor Linsley and later in the course we were given a copy of BS7671.
As for actual installation practice, I learnt on site, I'm sure there are some books available though, I'm sure this forum has guides somewhere.
