What should I do?
This is the situation.
The factory where the wife works is having a first floor asbestos roof replaced, the roof is approx 14 x 10 metres in size. The roofer when I spoke to him a few weeks back, is getting a proper skip in, however, when I spoke to him about using the proper PPE he said they dont normally bother.
This leads on to me 'assuming' that they will not be laying out polythene sheeting before hand and wiping down properly after.
This roof being on the first floor is separated by the ground floor with a concrete floor (where the wife works), so fibres are unlikely to get through that way.
Access to the ground floor is a completely different route to the first floor with a dividing wall approximately 5 meters high in between. the other side of this wall is a warehouse/storage area with access the the first floor.
Are you still with me??
Good..
This dividing wall is not air tight as it reaches the ground floor roof, this is where I am worried fibres may get through to my wife and other staff if not sealed off.
In addition to that, I will be expected to clear out the wiring ready for a new installation after the roofers have been, am I right in thinking I should see spotless clean floor/surfaces when I go in there? Especially if they have not used sheeting.
As the roofer said they dont use the full PPE, I am thinking they will not care about others also.
So, without a doubt should I make an anonymous call to the HSE?
I think I know the answer already!!
