That may be because of the new 2357 which is 2330 and the NVQ 3 combined

so its just 1 course that covers both levels ?

how will that affect people currently doing there level 2 then ? (i.e. me)

Not to sure but my understanding was that you would be able to finish the course, if you do a search on here for 2357 it may bring some more light on the issue

their are plenty of colleges offering level 3 this year. the shake up apparently should not affect anyone currently registered on the 2330. also my college is charging over double for 2330 level 3 this year. cheers

full course fees are around £1000. and most people actually pay for the level 3 as the gov will give level 2 free if you do not have a level 2 qualification
cheers

Summit skills have said that they will no longer fund courses for people who are not in the trade, therefore the tech cert only courses are no longer in funding, hence the increase in tuition fees. Therefore the 2357 will be the only funded course and in effect will be only open to people in the trade i.e. apprentices. So anybody who hasn't got an employer or wanting to change trades has been royally shafted. Hence a lot of colleges are no longer running courses or only at full cost. :-(

Only saving grace is that for this year the level 2 will continue to be funded. If anyone is being funded at level 3 can you let pm me as my college is unable to secure funding for the level 3 and we would love to know how your college managed to do so :-)

Are you saying that starting September you're getting funding for the 2330 Level 2 year 2 students, or for new enrolments on Level 2?

Because if you're getting funding for new students on Level 2 we'd love to know how you're doing it?

We're having to consider the PEO courses instead, just so that we've got a full-time course to run.

John, I'm afraid Mr Blue here is right - Summit Skills are adamant that the 2330 will no longer be funded. my advice to you is to eother start saving or find work

The powers above keep telling us this is what the industry wants!!!!!!!
Change for the sake of change, so it is about time that the industry stood up and starting telling those in those big ivory white towers what you want.

hi people,
Just found these forums the other day so i thought i'd let you know my situation and whats happening at my college in leeds.
I've just finished my first year at level 2 so have one year left, to level 2 and a further year for my level 3. In january we were informed that we would be the last 2330 students and if we enroll just before christmas this year we can do our 3rd year as you have 2 years after enrollment to in which to pass
However the finance is another issue, we were told about £1700 (i think) due to the economy deficit and the plug being pulled on education. However, once you find out how much your course has gone up...write a letter
To the college, to the local mp to the papers if you must, my wife is studdying at the moment and was given a course price increase from £150 to £870! A well written letter to student services and she kept her fees at 150
Worth a go anyway but when you find out how much it is for the 3rd year let us all know

hi all
i tried to enrol at wallsall on the c&g2330 level 3 for september,i was told they are not doing it and are only doing the c&g2357 and because i dont meet the criteria(unemployed) i cannot enrol on it.
my college(cannock) is now doing the c&g 2330 l3,but no funding so i have to pay nearly 1200 quid.

Well i just finally got a Job after 2 years so i should be good to pay for the Fees on the L3 17th and 2391 so im feeeling pretty good now about my Future in the Sparking trade : as before i was really worried about needing Finaces to pay for all 3 qualificattions plus the AM2 and il also save a few quid for the Compex.

Hi guys sorry a lot of you have been smacked in the teeth with increased college fees, it looks like Summit skills have cut off their noses with this funding malarky:mad:.

A lot of colleges seem to have dropped 2330 altogether, My college (Shrewsbury) are running the 2330 L3 this year at £975. Therefore anyone in Shropshire, Staffs or West Mids area whose colleges have decided to drop the 2330 completely might like to consider us?

Sorry for the blatent plug but I don't want to see L2 students cut adrift.

i think thats a great idea, students can put down which colleges are actually doing the 2330, to help others out if there college has dropped them, preventing them from finishing their course.

im at telford college of arts and tech and they are running the yr2 lv2 as of sept through the hols then for lv3 we have to register before the end of december for them to be able to run it. cost has gone up but more people on the course the better as then it will be cheaper major bonus is it means this time next year we will all be qualified to level 3
