Can anyone advise on a cable stand for spooling cable off. Don't need anything huge as its only for domestic wiring.

Finally given up with struggling to keep my cable straight whilst working on my own:mad:

Hi I would recommend rack-a-tiers they are durable plastic designee that fit together when not in use you should be able to pick them up for a reasonable price.

I use the original spoola for small drums of T+E, FP200 etc . Then the Thorsman one for armored drums it's a bit weighty to throw around on a rewire :D

you could count on one hand how many seconds it would take to destroy it on site then where would you store the rods:D

Both sound and look excellent. Can anyone suggest the approximate weight and height of a folded up CableStik, as I'm wondering if I can be prepared to lug it about and I can't find it on the interweb. Plus I like the idea that the extra arm can be attached to roof joists, see CABLESTIK Multi-purpose Cable Dispensing System - Installs in Seconds - No Tools Required

CableStik is only £41 inc vat at the Edwardes Bros Website and if one also buys the extra arm for £18 inc vat the delivery is free.

Although the Spoola is only £26 inc vat at TLC at the moment Original Spoola Cable Carrier

Decisions decisions...

I have the drums on the floor kick the drum away and pull it back at the same time. All about the technique. :D

Got to say thorsman stand is brilliant. Tried one the first time other day with 120 metres 4mm swa ;)

Thorsman cable stick.....awesome piece of kit.:)

don`t even go there lenny, i broke my finger on one at 6 in the morning it snapped open the wrong way and used my finger as a buffer. strapped it up for the day and went to the hospital after i had finished for the day. CRACKING piece of kit though :D

Are you sure you weren't trying to use a Maclaren Buggy:D:D:rolleyes:

cable reel = my arm through the drum with mate reeling it out!!! of i just use bit of wood / conduit / handly placed broom... lol

27 " and weighs in a little over a stone. 1 stone 3 to be precise.
That's not too bad, I was expecting 20kg+ the way some of you and complaining, although I guess this is before any wire is put on it...

not a bad weight and the bag comes with a nice sling so it can be popped on the shoulder. tough as old boots and at 41 quids cheap enough too

For domestic uses i would say the Rack-a-Tier definitely. Its light and folds away easily. I use a length of 32mm conduit(about 4 feet long) with a coupler on one end to stop it falling through when its packed up. Far easier than the kick and pull, and the cable wont kink up.
