Hi, diyer here, only for laying cable!!!
Before the builders arrive to clad my house with exterior insulation and rough cast I plan to attach a 1.5mm armoured cable to the house to future proof for a security/floodlight. The cable will run approx. 7m before entering through an old vent.
Is this ok, i.e cable hidden under insulating cladding?

Thanks for any response.

Tam.

will the cable be more than 2" below surface? also make sure that the steel wire armour is earthed.

Just a thought. Would it be better to just put conduit up for the cables to go into, instead of the 1.5mm SWA cable? Then if the cable is ever damaged or needs changing you can just replace it without removing lots of cladding.
Of course this will depend in the route of the cable.

That was the original plan. This lockdown time just got me thinking that I could tidy all that up by burying the cable. For sure if there was ever a problem there is no way to access the cable, it would just be cut and then doing it your way after that.
I'm really most concerned about the safety/regulations. I cant get in touch with anyone at the contractor just now to advise. I worry that I do it, they turn up and say, no way you need to remove that.
