Ian Pankhurst

hi all, I'm new here and although i have worked as a spark's mate the last 2 years, he never gave much away.
I am also a handyman outside of that job and will probably just carry on working for myself when i finish my domestic installers course in a couple of weeks.
I need a tester and cannot decide between the megger MFT 1730, or the fluke 1654.
or am i being stupid all together, and should go for something completely different?
My money is in your hands
Thanks in advance

It depends on your funds available, if you want a tester and don't want to be ripped off by spending 800 quid on the latest on the market go for a MFT which is second hand and will do the job, there are several on here and other sites I'm sure, however if money is no object even though you may hardly use it then I would suggest the 1730 by meggar over the Fluke.

Ian 1730 is an expensive piece of kit I have the 1720 and it fulfills all my needs.

If you can find someone with the gear your thinking of buying and tag along and have a play before you buy.

All the best with your business.

Andy

yep, 1552 or 1553. does everything except phase rotation, but the bacon slicer going backwards will do that for you.

I was only looking at the new models as they seem to incorporate all the new functions now. I know they are a bit pricey, but it is a one off payment (hopefully) and I'm one of those "needs the latest new toy" kinda fella's.
it looks like i'm steering more towards the 1730. I was originally put off of megger, being told that their not that user friendly, but I think that they have got easier to use with the newer models?
