Hello,
I blew up my little network cable tester today, it was one like that, Philex Network Cable Tester - https://www.screwflix..com/p/philex-network-cable-tester/93219
I am looking to replace it with something a little better, thinking a few hundred clams, I dont want to go into the full on network testers that cost 1000's
I mostly need it for IP cameras and the odd network point.

Thank you

I would replace it with the same, cheep and disposable if you accidently connect it to a 12v psu.

We got ones of these:

There is a cheaper version (around £130) and a fancier version. It works quite well and shows both cable faults as well as installed cable distances. You can also get a set od "ID modules" (for want of a better name) that don't do the fill cable test but allow you to rapidly identify patch cables to the matching sockets. Not sure if it makes sense for you / your budget, but maybe worth a look.

I have a Klein Tools cable tester, when remote racks lose CPU from local, use this product to carry out Ethernet troubleshooting between switches and plc Ethernet cards to help determine whether the cable was faulty or the switch com port. I just needed a quick way to diagnose issues so I could replace the part; I didn't need a particularly complex tool. Fantastic in that regard.
