Hi, dont know if anyone can help me. Being mainly domestic I am having a bit of difficulty with a contactor. I am trying to set it up a Merlin Gerin contactor to run along side a greenbrook T100 mechanical 24 hour timer. I am unsure of how to wire it in correctly. Any help greatly appreciated.

Wire the contactor solanoid throught the time clock. Basically the time clock is a switch so the phase conductor is controlled with that.

I dont know the terminal Nos or markings or but have given you basic scetch that may help.

Thank you for your help. i have used your sketch and also had a look at the terminals on the contactor and merged the two into my drawing. Does this make sence to you?

the switched live goes onto A1 and the nuetral for the switched live goes onto A2, the lights are wired up correctly in your drawing, but the two contacts on your drawing with no connections on them should have the live and nuetral feeds for the lights.

Im not teaching granny how to suck eggs, but a contactor is basicly a relay, you need a coil voltage/signal (the switched live from the timer) and you also need to feed the common side of the contactor, which is the live and nuetral feeds for the nights. The lights then go on the switched side of the contactor.

I havent got time to do a drawing sorry, although I will have a go tonight if you still need one.

sorry i dont have much experience with contactors. you say the two into the top contacts are the feed for the lights i thought the feed for the lights went to the time clock then out on the switch line to the contactor? Im so confused.

ok lets go

from mcb to clock also from same mcb to top live of contactor
from n bar to clock also from n bar to top n of contactor
from live out of clock to a1
from n of clock to a2
to lights as per your drawing

Basically live and neutral in to the contactor and live and neutral out to the lights it is switching. Then you need a switched live and neutral from the time clock to operate the coil and close the contacts on the contactor.
