Dealing with fibre glass insulation?

Hey guys. After spending the most part of the afternoon in a loft with absolutely loads of insulation. New upon old and being driven insane with itchy and dust was wondering what's your tips for dealing with this

Also bought a respirator on my way home. Had to deal with a crappy paper mask that only blew dust into my eyes :lol:

Parcel tape works well pulling the fibers out your skin, not strong enough to wax you.

If you don't mind being called a what's the word for it? oh I know a weirdo Vaseline on exposed parts sometimes helps, stops the fibers getting into your skin.

I can count the times I've worked in an attic on one hand Pete, must not have built a tolerance up.

Cold running water is the best thing to ease it afterwards, don't rub or scratch the itchy areas, just run cold water over them.

A decent respirator, a set of disposable overalls and gloves are a good idea.

If you are wearing full length clothing, not shorts or T shirts, then taping the cuffs down can help reduce fibre ingress.
The advice used to be just wear swimming trunks so the fibers do not get worked into the skin. More difficult to apply at work though.
Stripping down to your speedos and smearing Vaseline on yourself may not go down too well with most customers!

Try and avoid pressing your skin on the glass fibre, I often find my elbows are itchy when you have been lying down and wiring up a junction box on glass fibre.

I find that wiping gently with a clean microfibre cloth can lift off most of the fibres afterwards, certainly reduces the itching.

White paper suit with elasticated cuffs and leg ends, if too hot strip down to shreddies and wear over the top, they are about £1-2 each, worth every penny.
