Green Party meeting with their energy spokesperson went well, a plan is forming for how we can best mobilise the Green Party to oppose these cuts in conjunction with the solar trade bodies.

I'm going to be putting together campaign briefing material for them, working up an emergency motion for conference, and hopefully making it a campaign priority for the party at all levels over the next few months - so in parliament, european parliament, and local government levels as well as activists on the ground.

At the very least this should make it significantly more awkward for the tories to get this through, and cost them significant political capital if they do it.

There will be some stuff coming from Good Energy on this showing that renewables have actually reduced wholesale prices, and the burden on bill payers is approx half of that given as an annual cost.

This is the latest IMF data report on fossil subsidies: IMF Survey : Counting the Cost of Energy Subsidies

The spreadsheet breaks the global figure down by country and the estimate for the UK is $41.23 billion - equal to about £617 per person (at $1.52/£1).

These, of course, are not real subsidies handed out by governments, but an estimate of the cost of 'externalities', such as impact of pollution on the environment, health, etc. which governments do not tax oil or coal companies for.

Cant make this add up. Per capita is shown as $634.97 which in Sterling is the oft quoted figure of £400.00 (£407.66).

It's all a moot point if they believe that they have met their original deployment objectives. Just shout what a success it's been: (/cynic in me/)

Depressing reading. As said all along, this is the Treasury not DECC. You just have to see Osborne's recent comments on how affordable nuclear is to get the picture. Don't forget his father in law is Lord Howells, paid for by the gas industry.

key thing: it hits their right buttons and sounds good for them

Time to make them look good with the success of FIT and give them a win win way forward, think normal response when threatened -fight or flight ...

This only covers the larger projects (PV average 8.5MW), so probably only a very small % of FiT projects are in there.
