So, just had a call out. Customer said fuse board not wrking at all. On my way to the job, running a few senarios in me head, as you do. Get to the job to find its a new, dual rcd split board. Ok I thought, prob just the rcd thats tripped. I opened the board and all the mcbs and rcds were on. The customer then informs me, in a quiet and polite way, Ive just fitted that board and I went to turn it on and nowt works!!! Tut, tut, tut I said, you should ne be doin that! Anyway, after after removing the cover, I noticed he had all the neutrals in the wong bar and he had also rearanged the neutrals feeding the rcds. So I knew it wouldnt take long to sort it but because this was a DIY that went wrong, I took my time and made the job last an extra hour. I know I shouldnt but it just peees me off that they try and do it them selves.

I informed him that its needs to be tested and notified (by a proper sparks, with proper test gear), and he said he couldnt be bothered!!!

Well I left in shock but what can ya do.

Jay

By the way, he bought the cu from Wikes coz it was on offer. A 13 way board and he only has 5 circuits.

someone tell me where i can train as a forklift driver. £10/hour just for shifting a few palettes around, only responsibility is making sure you don't run over the factory cats.

Whats frustrating Tel is the fact one or 2 decent members and a lot of the DIYers here will post accussing us of being boring regarding this again, I am at a loss and worn out, please please admins start a I am a DIYer forum FFS

Hmmm , makes me wonder how many diy boiler threads they get on the plumbers forum lol.
Twice this week I've had DIYers call me out to fix their meddling, and whilst there, to hear them say 'I'd never mess with gas, but electricity is easy'! FFS if it's that easy why have you called me?

I am to amuse my friend. Enjoy your son's birthday party. It's my boys coming up in March, the big 3! I think i'm more excited than him.
Wade, were you this funny when you took that bloke to court to get your money back? I'd have bought tickets and driven down for the performance :)

I'm afraid i lost my sensor of humor a little during that exchange. However if you like watching a good old fashioned arse kicking, then it would have been money well spent.

It's the spell checker on here. It's set to US obviously, so i just saw squiggly red lines come up under my correctly spelt word and just auto corrected. Shame on me.

Don't understand some people who prefer paying less and risking theirs and their families lifes, anything could happen.
Stop being tight and pay the little extra to get the job done properly!
I would probably take my time too, nothing wrong with that! ~;p

Does my head in that aswell. Gas is dangerous don't get me wrong, but how people can class electricity as easy is beyond me - if its that easy, go enroll ureself on a apprentership instead of stacking the shelves at tesco. Moron's. Only takes them to get a proper belt and then they'll change their mind.

I had an ex-gf, everytime i went around to her parents house i could see extras that her stepdad had added, i used to jokingly say you can't do that mate...and his reply was everytime "it works so it must be fine" niceone.

is that wade spelling something wrong, AGAIN? tut tut :)

It's alright, we already know Wade's fault of not being able to spell correctly.
Now he's admitting to not being able to set his computer up properly.
I dread to think what's next?

Look, i'm just not having this. I pride myself on punctuation, grammar and alteration, i mean alliteration.... furthermore so my incredible grasp of the English language and my inconceivable discoursing ability. I shall not sit here and be affronted by a pair of unwashed heathens such as yourselves. Your irrevocable bad manners and purely disagreeable suggestions leave me with a some what bad taste in my mouth and leave with small choice but to reproach you for what you both are. No more than a couple of: -

Bigoted badgering bum bandits blatantly becoming besotted by buggering bees bum-holes

Or, via the words of a wise geordie - a couple of right T W A T S

;)

(Sorry admin - use of word is essential to maximise comic intention, we're all grown men here. No need to get upset)

"and leave with small choice" . should read " and leaves me with no choice". well, you started it. LOL. :nopity:

i just spent 10 mins going through this post and i have to say i have now forgotton wat the post wos about.
ohh yeah some idiot not wanting eic, the electrician can't issue one anyway as he didn't replace cu or did electrics.
a pir could of been issued if the diy er wanted to pay but thats not responsibility of electrician.
at most a minor works could of been given but as nothing by electrician has been changed except correcting cable location.

an electrician is supposed to check original installation before works are caried out but regs are a bit vague on the amount of testing.
if i was in this circumstance i would of spent about two hours testing all electrics before correcting cu then charged well over odds.

Problem is as a qualified sparks you take responsibly for the cu when you touch it. In my view you should have insisted on full testing and charged him! Also Part P notifiable!
