Hi everyone,

For a UPS serving as the secondary supply for life safety loads in a residential building (such as a fire fighting lift and sprinkler pump), would a dual input be required as shown in the photo below, or is a single feed sufficient?

Hi Ibra,

Your profile says London, your IP addresses suggest Cyprus. I suspect the answer to your question very much depends on the local laws and regulations. If you are in fact in London, then talk to the building control team at the local council who may should be able to provide guidance or point you towards someone who can.

I've only encountered such a solution once, here in the UK, it was in a normal domestic (i.e. a three storey single occupancy terraced house) property where a sprinkler pump was being installed (the property had undergone extensive renovation and the fire doors which precluded the need for a sprinkler had been removed as it was made open plan). That had a relatively standard small UPS running on a single supply (cabling was all FP200 I believe).

Thanks for your reply, I am in fact in London :)

The local fire brigade are normally keen to get involved in the planning stage and it can help prevent costly mistakes.
