I have just had my easiest day of the year. Turned up at job to 1st fix in a kitchen, stud wall and ceilings should have been taken down yesterday but they weren't. Joiner (he is a mate) turned up at 9am full of apologies. Anyway between us we pulled down the wall and ceiling and took the kitchen out, removed the tiles and re jigged the plumbing. I started 1st fix at 1pm, there was a redundant 6mm cable from CU to back of oven in the right place for me, a single socket in the removed wall, part of house ring in exactly the right place for the Island, and both ends of the old kitchen ring within 2 feet of where i needed them, and enough slack to move them to the new position. Cut 4 twin KO boxes into breeze and cabled up in new position, 8 down lighters switched in 4's and extractor hood bridge lighting, 3 gang switch, extractor supply, and ventilation fan wiring all installed. After all that we were in the Pub for 3.30pm. all tested OK and I am doing the CU on friday, only 1 circuit left to dead test, live test all, and job is a breeze.

Hi chaps,

just wondered how do you go about selling the idea of doing a PIR 1st? do you offer to knock the cost of testing off of the cu change? does it work out ok pricing wise? Does this approach work when your dealing with the type of customer who just wants to shop around for the cheapest price possible?

sorry for all the questions

top day in the office!
nice one! i had a good one too, c/u changed today with no hassle, replaced a dodgy stat on way home, picked up a re-wire too, all tested fine, everybody happy.....................wish it was always like that!

the biggest and hardest thing is to build up a good working relation ship with the customer , set a chagre for a periodic , then offer 25% discount on the periodic if you get the remidial works after amazing how much work it generates

thanks nickblake

seems a very fair of doing it.
