ECS Cards necessary for COMPEX course?

Hi everyone,

How many people have ECS cards? What do you think about the scheme? We need to do a COMPEX course for a job that we have just won and the College is saying we need a JIB/ECS card to receive their qualification. However a different college does not have this requirement. So it got me thinking....

What do they mean their qualification? a COMPEX certificate is awarded by a body not a college, I would check to see it is a proper COMPEX qualification they are offering.

I remember some years back a electrician where I worked did an Off-shore survival course to work on the rigs only to find out after he had paid his money and done the course that it was not reconised by the off-shore industry.

The college that we spoke to said they would not award the COMPEX Certificate unless our Guy had his JIB/ECS card. He is competent having NVQ Level 3 & testing etc... However they would give us a Certificate of attendance, which would be pretty useless for us.

If he has all that then why hasn't he applied for a JIB card?

Just time and money really, there are still a few of us who can get cards and haven't.
