Fan Isolator

Hi guys, is a Fan Isolator a must??

I have been asked to change a fan in a friends bathroom and upon inspection have found it to be wired directly to the lighting circuit just above the rose with no isolator available.

It is a standard fitting which only comes on with the lights and goes off immediatley.

need a selv opperated fan with a triple pole isolator mounted ouside the bathroom check zones and remember this is a special location and comes under the scope of part p. regarding standard fitting their are a few types avalible but id fit the time delay type and these will normally be preset to go off after 5 mins you can adjust these but 5 mins is normal.

yes and no
theres noting stopping you replacing like for like, even though it's in a special location no notification is ness

personally i would fit an isolator somewhere if poss, trouble is as you alter the circuit then it becomes notifiable, and you should be adding rcd protection as well.
check bonding in bathroom, whilst you at it and check what zone fan is in if ceilings are above 2.25m high then its outside of zones and mains fan is ok

can you not get a dp pull switch in a corner somewhere as isolator if not a timer model?
