Hi chaps am due to start a garage re-wire soon and just wanted to clarify the situation with 'exporting' the earth

Earthing is TNS, am planning on using the sheath of existing SWA as earth

The garage has metal struts supporting the roof, Do these need to be bonded to CPC?

If you are planning on using the SWA as the earth, you need to make sure that it is suitably sized.

Personally i would bond the SWA at CU end and use 2 core, Mini CU in garage, TT outside, and bond the metalwork.

Saves on having to run a separate 10mm bond back to the house for it.

Dont forget to make sure rest of bonding is in place and RCD where needed.
