Spotlight fitting on the landing and the lamps keep blowing.

Can't find a reason, anyone any ideas?

I'm going to suggest getting better quality GU10s, and failing that try some LEDs

Nearly always rubbish lamps....sometimes overheating due to insulation....or very occasionally vibration.....my moneys on poor lamps.

It could well be a number of things IE vibrations , faulty lamp holder , over heating , cheap lamps ,etc i would stear in the direction of led

When lamps are blowing regularly the main suspects are:
1) Poor quality lamps.
2) Over-voltage, +5% over-voltage will more than halve the life expectancy of the lamp.
3) Loose connections.
4) Poor quality lamp holders, particularly batten fittings.
5) Power quality, surges, noise and harmonics can all shorten the life expectancy of the lamp.
6) Rapid switching of the lamp ON and OFF ie. Short duration use.

Specifically to the OP check that Dichroic lamps have not been fitted, dichroic reflectors reflect visible light forward while allowing the invisible infrared light (radiated heat) to pass out of the rear of the fixture, resulting in a beam of light that is "cooler", but if the radiated heat is not sufficiently dissipated this leads to early lamp failure, and in extreme cases burnt fittings, wiring and/or surrounding building materials.

High voltage also drastically reduces the lamp life.

Perhaps install a dimmer switch, so that you can reduce the voltage. A soft start would also assist in lamp life.

I'm with wirepuller though, and would guess the quality of lamps is at fault. Keep your receipts and packaging, and return the lamps if they blow within the stated amount of operating hours.
