I completed the HNC from Teeside University 7 years ago. It is the first and only distance learning I have ever done. Like you I could have done it locally day release or night school. What swayed it for me was being able to customise exactly what units I did. This enabled me to fill gaps in my knowledge. You do need to be very dissaplined in the hours you spend each week.
The coursework that Teeside supply is excellent and is all you need. There is also additional recommended reading to supplement your learning. Support is also available from the University or other students.
