morning chaps,
i need to get some upvc windows and doors fitted on my house and i was wondering if anybody had any recommendations for trustworthy companys.
i based in north london
i dont wanna drive myself mad with the dodgy salesmen/shysters etc so any help would save me a lot of messing around
thanks in advance

Measure up and do them yourself, easy to do and with exception of the sealant round the outside, top floor windows can be fitted from within. You will save so much money.

Or go get a price direct from the manufacturers, sometimes they will ask if you need them fitting and will have a guy in house that can do it, that is normally cheaper than getting a known firm in.

Forgot to add, some window makers are really friendly, so don't feel intimidated to ask them anything you are unsure of.

Yep, agree!!

I have just replaced my garage window which was all rotten.

Local supplier --- £99 + vat and a couple of hours on a Sunday.

Done.

I did my whole house top to bottom, you can do it all from inside like has been said with the exception of trimming up which can be done of ladders, if you have a bay you will need a acro and the rest is child's play

On both of my occasions upon having windows fitted I had my leg thoroughly lifted by absolutely USELESS fitters.
I'll never have one fitted by anyone else again and always do it myself.

Top tip though.
If you don't own one already get yourself a foam gun...!!

When we got my mother's windows done we went to the big guys and were inundated with dodgy salesmen promising the earth. In the end we went to a small local mob, the owner came out measured then buggered off, 24 hours later a quote was dropped through the door which detailed what we would get how soon we would get it and how long it would take. We paid the deposit and got the fitting date which they adhered to,. My mother told me the owner of the company came round every couple of hours to check on his lads (more likely because she was liberal with the teapot hehe) and after it was done he came round to ask if we had any problems or questions.
In short, this company were a joy to deal with and I'd recommend them to anyone in my area.
Moral of the story imho, go with a local company because they'll give a better service than any of the nationals
