I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me if every power supply in the house i've just moved into should be making a buzzing noise, even when off.

Just so when I go to the landlord, he can't tell me it's normal! It's very audible - can hear it over the noise of my pc.

Should I turn everything off? My power-majig reads the mains as 242v/49.9hz - that is normal right?

What could be making my power supplies buzz? It's very annoying and quite frankly i'm worried!

what do you mean by the 'power supplies'

are you talking about the circuit breakers/fuses or are you talking about plug in power supplies such as mobile phone chargers?

TV makes similar noise to PSU on computer's. It's so loud I can hear the PSU on computer buzzing over the noise of computer. Buzzes the same when "off"

Not checked phone chargers,

I was told it might be "mains buzz" but none of them made such a loud noise before??

no noise from fuse board, the constant noise is from the power adaptors themselves.

though the fuse board does make a loudish buzzing noise when the central heating kicks in (electric central heating/economy 7 thing) - but that draws 9.5kw according to the manual and i assume that is normal

i've just chekced with my power meter and the mains voltage drops from 240~ to 232~ when using only 170 watts. is that normal?
