Not sure why an american far right website is running this story apart from an angle where they interview a UKIP spokesman who implies that children are sometimes kept off school in order to be radicalised into sects and hate groups by their Islamic parents.

Sorry but I lost interest once I realised the article's purpose wasn't to highlight issues of education.

The problem with home ed and independent schools,is supervision and regulation.

Setting an education programme up,apart from mainstream influences,in an environment controlled by the provider,is....

....hang on...it's Hogwarts :)

I take it back.:p

But this is absolutely about education, choice and an agenda that is questionable. Do you have kids? Are you not concerned? Or am I over reading all this?
Nothing against the issue, just the article and the way it was presented

The way I’ve read the article is that the parents applied for a child performers licence for this child. As part of this process the council have to ensure that the child’s education and wellbeing will not be negatively affected by participating in the performance.
In order to confirm this they made enquiries about the child’s education and as it is home schooled it meant checking up on that home education. And then it appears to have suddenly become an attack on home education in general, I’m not quite sure what made that leap other than creative journalism and general ---- stirring.

Must be great to know enough about everything to feel you can provide the only education your children need.

OP, my concern would be children need to interact with other children, to prepare them for the big wicked world out there.!
I bet the OP's wife has said he behaves like a 6 year old in the past like most of our partners have....... theres the interaction bit sorted out then.
