Picked up my tickets yesterday, shirt ironed, car fueled up and WE ARE OFF TO WEMBLEY :willy_nilly:

Should be a great game and maybe a modern day classic. Both teams will give it 100% just to have the bragging rights within our local area, Cas fans will be drowning their sorrows tonight though

Any on else going? You cant miss me, I'm the one with the mohican! Yes thats correct, I've shaved my head and got a mohican :Mr-T: Post up a picture later so you lot can have a laugh. And yes I do look like a right ---.

Predicted score from me is Leeds 26 Cas 16 and Paul M on his back in Headingley by midnight lol.

We will win this time. Last we lifted the cup was 1999 at the old Wembley, that was a fantastic day out, hope this one will be.

With all the yawnion topics on here I thought I was the only league supporter on here ...at least this makes 2 of us...

The "we" thing just doesn't do it for me. An anathema might be a better description.
Perhaps more so for football. The "we" are a vociferous and, at times, an acrimonious crowd who take no part in the game. The notion that "we won" claimed by spectators in person or in front of a television seems nonsensical to me.

That said, I do hope you enjoy your day out.
Tomorrow, I'll have a beer, sit back, and witch the F1 Belgian grand prix.
It is renowned for changeable weather conditions and that sorts out the men from the boys.

A chacun son goût.

I watch it occassionally when on the TV, lets put it this way I wouldn't switch over to a footie match even though League isn't my first game, well done Leeds, at last some success, especially after Leeds took a 62-19 hammering in union last week at Glos

The "we" bit does apply in any sports. If it was not for the supporters and fans buying team shirts and tickets, the team/club would not exist. Club uses the money in training, coaches, management, players and improving the grounds. With this the team/club get sponsorships and more money to build upon, just look at Man U, Man City. On the reverse side of the coin look at Bradford bulls with bad management they lost money, sold players and are at the bottom of the table when only 2 years ago they were one of the best teams in the world (and that is from me, a Rhino's fan!!!)

Fans and supporters are a big part of any team and no team in the world would survive without "us".

Yes I had a great day out thanks. Going to the team party at Headingley later on.

I'm not in any way shape or form disputing that.
No supporters, viewers or fans, no sponsors, no sport.
I like F1. As do millions of others. If I and the millions of others stopped watching it, it would cease to exist. It, like other professional sports, is a business. And, it like other businesses, needs customers. No customers, no business.

I'm pleased that Daniel Riccardo won today. But it was he, not we.

I hate F1, very boring IMO lol
The technology is amazingl.
A 1.6 litre V6 that can do about 200mph.
Cornering and braking at up to 5g.
The physical requirements on the drivers are miles beyond that required in any other sport,

But, unless you are into it, you probably can't appreciate that.
Technical, physical, strategic in a combination that no other sports emulate.

Not exactly exciting though is it...I watch it sometimes, but it's not on the edge of your seat stuff...changing from minute to minute...

We say 'we' because thats the team we support, for the reasons Paul mentions, we are part of that team, you become passionate and that makes games exciting. Your on the edge of your seat through out, as the game changes, it's tense and thats what makes sport like this good.

But you being into F1 I don't expect you to understand that [emoji6]

F1 is the perfect example of fans and sponsorship support. A soft drinks company has dominated the sport for a number of years whilst the like of Ferrari, Mercedes, Renault try their best to keep up. They build the cars, Red Bull make caffeine drinks in expensive cans!!!

The term "we" whilst talking about a team you support and fund via tickets etc, WE are a small part of the team. He just drove a car for 2-3 hours supported by his team that are paid for by the fans AKA "WE/US". He won the race but WE won?????

In the case of F1, the sponsorship is just pure worldwide advertising, I think the fans count for very little.
The good thing about F1 though, is that a lot of it, is British engineering showing the world that it's the best.

Red Bull did. They use Renault engines, are sponsored by Infiniti, a Nissan brand, and are based in Milton Keynes.
This year Mercedes, a car manufacturer, are streets ahead of any competitors. Not so long ago, it was Michael Schumacher who, in a Ferrari, another car manufacturer dominated.

Yes, we, as in our support for the sport, are the reason it continues to exist. We win in the sense that it does continue.
But it was Riccardo who won the race.

Disagree. The fans are the very basis for the advertising. Without fans, there would be no audience for the sponsors advertising to be seen. Without fans there would be no one for the sponsors to make a pitch to. Audience gone, sponsors gone, sport gone.

Yep all paid for by people that buy anything with red bull printed on it. Paid for the driver, the car, the engine, the support team. He won the race but it was he supporters that put him in the seat????

No. Small crowds at the circuits v multi millions of (part time) viewers on TV.
That's what the sponsers are shovelling £$£$£$£$£$£$£$ into the game for.

Back on topic, rugby league. As I only joined on here yesterday I am just going through lot's of older thread's and found this. You have found another rugby league fan here, up the "Vikings". Only a few month's before the season starts again.
