I'm looking to get into the electrical trade, i have C&G 2330 l2, passed cscs, have driving license and it seems if i go for an apprenticeship i'm not considered due to already being qualified at level 2 or for being 19 (no funding) and i cant get any work as a mate as i have no on-site experience, suggestions?

keep plugging away. maybe offer to work a week's trial for expenses only.

I've tried that, even called and e-mailed all electrical companies within 20 miles. applied for an apprenticeship online which is miles away spoke to them and said i wouldn't mind just renting a room for a year as i know it will be worth it, they basically said they thought i was joking.

At 19 50% of your training is paid for, so you can get funding.

Stick at it looking for an apprenticeship, it wasn't too long ago we were looking for a level 2 apprentice as we wanted someone with a bit of experience/knowledge.

Oh dear,.....

I would have thought that the electrical industry would have learn't by now to relieve itself of its unenlightened attitudes

eeyore, eeyore.

But seriously, if you want to be an electrician then you'll have to stick at it until you get a break.....

Don't try only electrical companies, try other places that will be using their own electricians, they are sometimes a bit easier on what they want and will accept.

Good luck and do not give up.
