Mercedes W204 Indicator/Wiper switch problem

Hello,

2008 c200 W204. I have been having trouble for ages. Advice seems to be: change the stalk assembly, but not convinced that is the answer.
Intermittent problems, this is the latest manifestation. No wiper action or washer action on any of the positions, switch ignition on an off and all functions return for a period of no fixed duration, sometimes days sometimes half an hour.
Occasional problem with indicators, same solution and result.
Surely this cannot be the switch, as it seems dependent upon ignition on-off cycle.
Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks for taking the time to respond telectrix, do you have an idea where I can look for the common earth. Despite teh electrajohnt handle I am not an electrician, it's to do with Harley's.

Thanks for the response DPG. I will try and check it, with it being intermittent and goes away once the ignition is switched off I need to spy my chance. I will be back.

Hi - I seem to have very similar issues with my w204 AMG. Did you find out what the problem was?
