I've got myself a MFT1720.

Sadly it doesn't have any batteries in it.

Which batteries go in it ? So I can buy some. Can it be any rechargeable batteries?

I believe it is standard non rechargeable AA batteries in that line of MFT. Take the cover off and have a look, usually that sort of information is stamped into the battery holder.

My 1720 takes 6 AA Alkaline or niMH, same as all 1700 series apparently

I saw this to. I've seen certain outlets selling NiMH for 44 quid or so!

Then I've seen amazon brand ones for like a fiver. Iol. Not sure if I should get the cheaper ones lol Don't know if there's a difference lol

Deleted (wrong price).

Is this a wind up or posted in earnest?

Inside of any battery cover provides details of battery type and quantity required.

£44????? Are they gold plated and come with a brass pig? Screwfix are £9 for 4 2100mAh AA Varta. £18 for 2 packs and 2 left over for your torch.

That's normally the case, but not with the 1700's it seems.
The only clue is the available space.

Certainly not cheap for six rechargeable AA batteries. I like Eneloop (standard white ones) - there are cheaper options again, but Eneloop have proven very reliable and so I stick with tried, tested and trusted.

Hi Thanks

Yes the kit didn't have any mention of the battery that is required.

As its expensive I didn't want to just put any ol battery in there and mess the kit up . It's already too expensive lol. Especially for a L2 guy 😆

Yup, good as long as you have a good supplier. I read somewhere that theres a lot of fakes about.

nubattery.co.uk (formerly 18650.com)

Been buying from them for years as reliability was often critical. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

The Panasonic Eneloop Nimh batteries have a much lower self diss-charge rate than other Nimh's, I think it's somewhere about 10% in a year, more convenient when your equipment only gets intermittent use.

From post eight it looks like six AA cells the middle two being below the outer cells on either side.

I've replaced my Mfts 6 AA batteries with lithium-ion ones.
